The 12 rashis
Signs describe how a planet expresses itself. Each has a ruling planet, an element and a quality.
1. Aries · Mesha मेष
Lord Mars · Fire · Movable (chara) · The Ram
Mesha opens the zodiac, and its energy is that of a first step: direct, brave and impatient with delay. Ruled by Mars and the exaltation sign of the Sun, it gives initiative and a love of challenges. People with strong Aries placements usually learn by doing, start more than they finish, and are at their best when they have a clear goal to charge at. The lesson of Mesha is to pair courage with patience.
Today's horoscope for Aries Moon →2. Taurus · Vrishabha वृषभ
Lord Venus · Earth · Fixed (sthira) · The Bull
Vrishabha is the sign of steadiness and enjoyment. Venus rules it and the Moon is exalted here, so it values comfort, beauty, good food and loyal relationships. Taurus energy builds slowly and keeps what it builds, whether that is savings, a garden or a friendship. Its challenge is stubbornness; its gift is the ability to make life feel secure for everyone around it.
Today's horoscope for Taurus Moon →3. Gemini · Mithuna मिथुन
Lord Mercury · Air · Dual (dvisvabhava) · The Couple
Mithuna is curious, talkative and quick. Ruled by Mercury, it loves ideas, words, trade and short journeys. Gemini placements often bring versatility — two careers, two languages, two homes. The sign's symbol, a couple holding a mace and a veena, hints at its balance of practical skill and art. Its task is to choose depth over endless variety.
Today's horoscope for Gemini Moon →4. Cancer · Karka कर्क
Lord Moon · Water · Movable (chara) · The Crab
Karka is the Moon's own sign and the exaltation sign of Jupiter. It is nurturing, protective and deeply connected to home, mother and memory. Cancer energy feels before it thinks and remembers how others made it feel. A strong Karka gives emotional intelligence and care for family; its growth lies in not retreating into its shell when hurt.
Today's horoscope for Cancer Moon →5. Leo · Simha सिंह
Lord Sun · Fire · Fixed (sthira) · The Lion
Simha is the Sun's own sign: dignified, generous and naturally at the centre. It gives leadership, creativity and a strong sense of honour. Leo placements want to be seen for what they create and are loyal protectors of those they love. The lesson of Simha is to lead through warmth rather than demand, and to let others shine too.
Today's horoscope for Leo Moon →6. Virgo · Kanya कन्या
Lord Mercury · Earth · Dual (dvisvabhava) · The Maiden
Kanya is Mercury's exaltation sign — precise, analytical and service-minded. It notices details others miss and likes to improve things, from a spreadsheet to someone's health routine. Virgo placements excel in medicine, accounts, editing and any craft that rewards care. Its challenge is self-criticism; its gift is making the world work a little better.
Today's horoscope for Virgo Moon →7. Libra · Tula तुला
Lord Venus · Air · Movable (chara) · The Scales
Tula is the sign of balance, partnership and fairness. Ruled by Venus and the exaltation sign of Saturn, it combines charm with a strong sense of justice. Libra placements are diplomats, designers and mediators who think in terms of 'we'. Their lesson is to keep their own centre while seeking harmony with others.
Today's horoscope for Libra Moon →8. Scorpio · Vrishchika वृश्चिक
Lord Mars · Water · Fixed (sthira) · The Scorpion
Vrishchika is intense, private and transformative. Mars rules it, and the Moon is debilitated here, so emotions run deep and are not easily shown. Scorpio placements are drawn to research, healing, psychology and hidden knowledge. They are fiercely loyal and resilient; the lesson is to transform pain into wisdom rather than hold on to it.
Today's horoscope for Scorpio Moon →9. Sagittarius · Dhanu धनु
Lord Jupiter · Fire · Dual (dvisvabhava) · The Archer
Dhanu is Jupiter's fiery sign of dharma, higher learning and long journeys. It is optimistic, principled and generous with advice. Sagittarius placements love teachers, philosophy, travel and the big picture. The archer aims high; the lesson is to practise what it preaches and to remember the details along the way.
Today's horoscope for Sagittarius Moon →10. Capricorn · Makara मकर
Lord Saturn · Earth · Movable (chara) · The Makara (sea-creature)
Makara, ruled by Saturn and the exaltation sign of Mars, is practical, ambitious and patient. It understands that real achievement is built over years. Capricorn placements take responsibility early and often carry family duties. The mythical Makara, part land creature and part sea creature, shows its ability to work in the material world while keeping a spiritual depth.
Today's horoscope for Capricorn Moon →11. Aquarius · Kumbha कुंभ
Lord Saturn · Air · Fixed (sthira) · The Water-bearer
Kumbha is Saturn's airy sign of community, ideals and innovation. It thinks about systems, networks and the common good. Aquarius placements are often unconventional and humanitarian, comfortable with technology and with people from every background. Their lesson is to bring warmth to their ideals and to connect with individuals, not just causes.
Today's horoscope for Aquarius Moon →12. Pisces · Meena मीन
Lord Jupiter · Water · Dual (dvisvabhava) · The Fish
Meena closes the zodiac. Ruled by Jupiter and the exaltation sign of Venus, it is compassionate, imaginative and spiritual. Pisces placements sense what others feel and are drawn to music, art, healing and devotion. The two fish swimming in opposite directions show its pull between the worldly and the transcendent; its gift is unconditional kindness.
