Hindu families across the United Kingdom, from Wembley and Southall to Leicester, Birmingham and Manchester, keep a rich calendar of pujas, sanskars and festival rituals. What is often harder to find is a pandit who is free on the date and time your muhurat asks for, and who can guide the family through each step in a language everyone understands.

Our pandits are based in India and conduct every puja live over Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp video. You set up a simple altar at home, and the pandit leads the sankalp, mantras and offerings step by step, explaining what each part means. For rituals that are traditionally done at a tirth, such as pind daan or asthi visarjan, a pandit performs them on your family's behalf at Prayagraj, Kashi, Ayodhya or Mathura-Vrindavan, with the sankalp taken in your names and the ritual shown to you live.

Because many UK homes are fitted with mains-linked smoke alarms, we offer a smoke-free havan: the pandit performs the fire havan at the tirth on camera while your family offers ahutis at home without any flame or smoke, or you light only a ghee lamp. There is no local office and no home visit; everything is done online or at a tirth in India.

How smoke-free havan works · How online puja works

Practical notes for United Kingdom

  • Samagri is easy to source locally: Southall Broadway, Ealing Road in Wembley, Station Road in Harrow, Green Street in East Ham, Belgrave Road in Leicester and Soho Road or Stratford Road in Birmingham all have Indian grocers stocking roli, moli, kalash, diyas and ghee. We send a checklist in advance so you can shop in one trip.
  • Most UK rentals are required to have working smoke alarms on every storey, and many newer flats have interlinked or heat-sensitive systems. Please do not disable or cover any alarm; choose our smoke-free havan or a ghee-lamp-only puja instead.
  • The UK is 5h30m behind IST in winter (GMT) and 4h30m behind during British Summer Time (late March to late October). A 9 am UK puja is 2:30 pm IST in winter and 1:30 pm IST in summer, both comfortable for our pandits.
  • Weekend mornings and the October half-term, Christmas and Easter school holidays fill up first, especially for Griha Pravesh, Mundan and Satyanarayan Puja. Booking two to three weeks ahead helps.
  • Muhurat and tithi are calculated for your UK city's sunrise, so a festival can fall on a different date from the Indian calendar you see online. We confirm the correct local date with you before booking.
  • Please do not place flowers, ashes, idols or other puja offerings in UK rivers, canals or the sea unless at a site your local authority has specifically approved. We can arrange asthi visarjan and visarjan of puja items at a tirth in India instead.
  • For houses with gardens, some families prefer an outdoor havan, but local rules on fires and neighbours' comfort vary; the smoke-free option avoids that question entirely.

Festivals in UK time

  • Diwali usually falls in late October or November, often just after the clocks go back, so Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja in the UK evening (around 6–8 pm) lands late night in India. We schedule pandits specifically for UK pradosh kaal.
  • Navratri falls in September–October, close to the start of the school year; online Durga Saptashati Path lets families join daily from home after work.
  • Maha Shivratri comes in February or March on a cold, dark UK evening; an online Rudrabhishek means the family can take part together without travelling to a mandir.
  • Pitru Paksha in September–October is when many UK families wish to honour ancestors. Pind daan can be performed at Prayagraj or Kashi on your behalf with your gotra and names, and shown to you live.
  • Ganesh Chaturthi visarjan should not go into UK waterways; a clay or metal murti can be immersed in a bucket at home, or we can arrange visarjan at a tirth in India.

Frequently asked questions

Can a pandit come to our home in the UK?

No. Our pandits are in India and we do not offer home visits or in-person services in the UK. All pujas are conducted live over Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp video, or performed at a tirth in India on your behalf.

What time of day works best for an online puja from the UK?

UK mornings and early afternoons are ideal, because they fall in the Indian afternoon and evening. The UK is 5h30m behind IST in winter and 4h30m behind during British Summer Time, and we adjust the booking when the clocks change.

Our flat has a very sensitive smoke alarm. Can we still have a havan?

Yes. With our smoke-free havan the pandit performs the fire havan at a tirth in India on camera while your family offers ahutis at home without any flame, or you can light just a ghee lamp. Please never disable or cover a smoke alarm.

Where can I buy puja samagri in the UK?

Indian grocers in Southall, Wembley, Harrow, East Ham, Tooting, Leicester's Belgrave Road and Birmingham's Soho Road and Stratford Road usually stock everything on our list. We send a simple checklist before your puja, and we can suggest substitutes for anything you cannot find.

Will the muhurat be based on UK time or Indian time?

For pujas performed in your home, the muhurat is calculated for your UK city's sunrise and local time. For rituals performed at a tirth in India, the timing follows the tirth's local Panchang, and we tell you exactly when to join.

Can you do Griha Pravesh online for a new house in the UK?

Yes. The pandit guides the family through kalash sthapana, Ganesh puja, Vastu puja and the entry into the home over video, room by room if you carry the phone or laptop with you. A smoke-free havan option is available.

How do we handle asthi visarjan for a loved one who passed away in the UK?

We can arrange asthi visarjan at Prayagraj or Kashi. Please check with your funeral director about the documents needed to carry or send ashes to India. The ritual is performed with your family's names and gotra and can be shown to you live.

Can family members in India and other countries join the same puja?

Yes. One video link can be shared with relatives anywhere, so grandparents in India and siblings abroad can take part in the sankalp together.

Which language will the pandit speak?

Our pandits conduct the mantras in Sanskrit and explain the steps in Hindi or English. Please tell us your preference when booking so the family can follow comfortably.

How do we pay from the UK?

Payment details are shared at booking. Please contact us for the current options and the amount for your chosen puja, as we confirm everything in writing before the date.
