Canada's Hindu families live across a wide country, from Brampton, Mississauga and Scarborough in the Greater Toronto Area to Surrey and Burnaby in British Columbia and the growing communities of Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg. Many are newcomers, students or young families who would like to keep their rituals but do not yet have a family pandit nearby.
Our pandits are in India and conduct pujas live over Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp video. The pandit guides you through sankalp, Ganesh puja, the main ritual and aarti, explaining each step so children and first-timers can follow. Rituals traditionally done at a tirth, such as pind daan and asthi visarjan, are performed on your family's behalf at Prayagraj, Kashi, Ayodhya or Mathura-Vrindavan and shown to you live.
Condo and apartment living, long winters with closed windows and building fire systems make indoor havan difficult for many households. Our smoke-free havan has the pandit perform the fire havan at a tirth on camera while your family offers ahutis at home with no flame or smoke, or with only a ghee lamp. We have no office in Canada and do not visit homes.

Practical notes for Canada
- Samagri is widely available: Gerrard India Bazaar and the Brampton and Malton plazas in Ontario, Scott Road and the Newton area in Surrey, the Punjabi Market on Main Street in Vancouver, and northeast Calgary's grocery strips. We send a checklist beforehand.
- Canadian building codes require smoke alarms in homes, and many condos have corporation rules and central fire panels that can call out the fire department. Please never disable or cover an alarm; use our smoke-free havan or a ghee-lamp puja instead.
- Toronto is 10h30m behind IST in winter (EST) and 9h30m behind in summer (EDT). Vancouver is 13h30m behind in winter and 12h30m behind in summer; Calgary is 12h30m and 11h30m behind. Canada changes clocks on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November.
- Evening pujas in Canada fall in the early Indian morning, which suits many rituals. Early mornings in Canada fall in the Indian evening. In Vancouver, evenings from about 6:30 pm onward work best.
- Long weekends (Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving) and March break are popular for Griha Pravesh and sanskars; book two to three weeks ahead.
- Do not put ashes, flowers, murtis or puja offerings into lakes, rivers or the ocean without the relevant provincial or municipal permission. We arrange visarjan and asthi visarjan at a tirth in India.
- In winter, an outdoor havan is rarely practical, and in BC and the Prairies summer fire bans may apply. The smoke-free option works year-round indoors.
Festivals in Canada time
- Diwali falls in late October or November, often right around the first Sunday in November when clocks go back. An evening Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja in Toronto lands around dawn the next day in India; we schedule pandits accordingly.
- Navratri usually falls in late September–October, near Thanksgiving; families can join a nightly online Durga Saptashati Path after work and school.
- Maha Shivratri comes in the coldest part of winter; an online Rudrabhishek lets the whole family take part at home instead of driving in snow.
- Pitru Paksha in September–October is a common time for pind daan; we perform it at Prayagraj or Kashi in your family's names and show it live, timed for your Canadian morning or evening.
- Because Vancouver is more than 12 hours behind India, festival tithis can differ by a day from Indian calendars; we confirm the local date before booking.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a pandit in Brampton or Surrey who can visit?
No. We have no office in Canada and do not offer home visits. Our pandits are in India and conduct every puja live by video, or perform rituals at a tirth in India on your behalf.
How does the time difference work for Vancouver?
Vancouver is 13h30m behind IST in winter and 12h30m behind in summer. An evening puja in Vancouver, around 6:30–9 pm, is early morning in India, which suits our pandits.
Our condo board does not allow open flames. What are our options?
Choose our smoke-free havan: the pandit performs the fire havan at a tirth in India on camera while you offer ahutis at home without flame. If the rules allow a single ghee lamp, we can also do a ghee-lamp havan. Please always follow your building's rules.
Can you do a Griha Pravesh for our new house in Canada?
Yes. The pandit guides you through the entry, kalash sthapana, Ganesh and Vastu puja over video. Many families do this before moving furniture in; muhurat is calculated for your city.
Is the muhurat calculated for Canadian time?
Yes, for pujas in your home we use your city's sunrise and local time zone. Because Canada is far behind India, the correct tithi can fall on a different date from Indian calendars, and we confirm it with you.
Where do we buy samagri in Toronto or Vancouver?
Indian grocers in Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough, Gerrard India Bazaar, Surrey's Scott Road and Vancouver's Punjabi Market stock most items. We send a checklist and suggest substitutes where needed.
We are students living in a shared rental. Can we still do a puja?
Yes. A simple puja needs only a small clean space, a picture or murti, a diya and a few items. A smoke-free havan or a puja without havan works well in shared housing.
Can relatives in India join our online puja?
Yes. The same link can be shared with family in India and elsewhere so everyone joins the sankalp together.
How is asthi visarjan arranged from Canada?
We arrange asthi visarjan at Prayagraj or Kashi in your family's names. Please check with your funeral home about documents for carrying or sending ashes to India. The ritual can be shown to you live.
What language will the pandit use?
Mantras are in Sanskrit, with guidance in Hindi or English. Tell us your preference when booking.
