Varshphal (Annual Chart)

Your exact Vedic solar return instant for any year, with the annual chart and Muntha.

About the Varshphal (Annual Chart)

Varshphal, meaning 'fruit of the year', is the Vedic annual chart. It is cast for the exact moment each year when the Sun returns to the same sidereal longitude it held at your birth. Because the sidereal year differs slightly from the calendar year, this moment can fall a day before or after your birthday and at any time of day.

The Varshphal system, developed by the Tajika school, uses the annual chart to describe the themes of the coming year. Key factors include the Lagna of the annual chart, the Muntha — a point that advances one sign each year from your natal Lagna — and the year lord (Varsheshwara). Where the Muntha falls shows an area of life that gets emphasis that year.

Our tool finds the exact return instant using an astronomical search to within a fraction of a second, converts it to your chosen time zone, and casts the annual chart for the place where you will be on your birthday. That last point matters: an annual chart is traditionally cast for your location at the time of the return, so if you live in London, Toronto, Sydney or New Jersey but were born in Lucknow, use the city where you live.

Read the annual chart alongside your natal chart and running dasha. The natal chart is the promise, the dasha is the timing, and the Varshphal fine-tunes what this particular year emphasises.

Many families like to schedule an Ayush Homa or a Navagraha puja near the Varshphal moment as a way to begin the new year of life with intention.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter birth details and choose a year.
  2. Optionally search the city where you will be on your birthday.
  3. See the exact return time and annual chart with Muntha.

How we calculate: planetary positions come from the open-source astronomy-engine library (accurate to well under an arc-minute for these purposes), converted to the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa. Time zones and historical daylight-saving rules are looked up from your birthplace, so a 1985 birth in Chicago or a 1972 birth in Delhi is converted correctly. Houses are whole-sign from the Lagna, and Rahu/Ketu use the mean node. Results are for self-reflection and education; they are not medical, legal or financial advice.
