Which puja is done for rahu–ketu dosh & rahu mahadasha?

When do families consider this puja?

  • A Rahu (18-year) or Ketu (7-year) mahadasha or antardasha is running
  • Rahu or Ketu in the 1st, 5th, 7th or 8th house with the Moon or Sun
  • A solar or lunar eclipse falling on an important point in the chart
  • Restlessness, confusion or sudden changes in this period

What can the family do at home?

  • Saturday: chant 'Om Raam Rahave Namah' 108 times for Rahu.
  • Tuesday or Thursday: chant 'Om Kem Ketave Namah' and worship Ganesha for Ketu.
  • Recite the Durga Chalisa or Devi Kavach regularly.
  • Keep routines steady and avoid impulsive big decisions during a Rahu period.

What should you tell the pandit at the sankalp?

Name, gotra and birth details, the dasha running (for example Rahu mahadasha, Ketu antardasha), and the wish 'for the pacification of Rahu and Ketu and clarity in this period.'
