What can the family do at home?
- Choose the muhurat from the panchang; avoid Rahu Kaal and, traditionally, the Chaturmas months if your family observes this.
- Enter with the right foot first, carrying a kalash of water.
- Boil milk in the new kitchen until it overflows, a sign of abundance.
- Sleep in the new home the same night if you can.

Griha Pravesh marks entering a new home; Vastu Shanti propitiates the Vastu Purusha for the building itself. New construction usually has both.
